Vision Night 2008

I am currently in sunny South Florida where I came for our church's board of directors' meeting (coming home today). We looked back at some of the amazing things God has done at Calvary Fellowship this past year, and made some decisions about the new year.

I am VERY excited about the possibilities in 2008! I am very excited about the next steps in 2008!! I am very excited about the decisions that were made and how they will play out in our church in this next year. Do you want to know what what decisions were made?

Then come out to our annual vision night this Sunday at 7pm as we discuss next steps, changes, vision, strategy, goals and the budget for 2008...and of course, enjoy refreshments!

Bible Challenge Forum

Flying United

Today at Calvary, Nicholas taught a message entitled "Flying United" about the power of individual and corporate unity.

"Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity!" (Psalm 133:1, NKJV)

The Bible Challenge

One of the habits that our church developed (or reinforced) during "The 40 Days of Purpose" campaign was a daily devotional time of 10-15 minutes. Not wanting to waste a newly developed habit (especially since we just stressed the importance of reading the bible in our "Good Book" series), we challenged everyone to continue their daily reading time by reading the Bible. So this Sunday we distributed a plan to read through the Bible or through the New Testament in 1 year. Many took the challenge and began the Bible Challenge this past Sunday.

Celebration Sunday

Calvary Fellowship turned into party central today for Celebration Sunday as we concluded our "40 Days of Purpose" journey. We reviewed what we learned, and anticipated what was next in a message
entitled "What Have we Learned?" It really felt more like a party than church today...maybe that should be the case more often...

What's Hot (& What's Not) in Outreach

Since we are discussing evangelism in our 40 Days of Purpose Campaign this week; I thought it would be worthwhile to post an intriguing article I received from Church Leader Insights today. Made for a Mission

Yesterday at church we continued in the "40 Days" with the message "Made for a Mission". We discussed the  mission (evangelism) Jesus left us on the planet to accomplish and the 3 spheres in which this is to happen.

In the message we heard two great testimonies from two people serious about the mission: Sheri Brown (Intervarsity at UHartford) and Jerry Negrotto (Calvary South Tampa).

Shaped for Serving God

We continued in the "40 Days of Purpose" today with a message entitled "Shaped for Serving God." We are all ministers (aka servants) of God and as such we are to serve God by serving others. But service with the wrong heart doesn't please God, so we need to learn how to serve by observing our model; Jesus. Today we learned 3 ways that we can learn to serve like Him.
