Later this week I'll share some thoughts about Calvary Fellowship turning 5, but here are some quick hits on the anniversary celebration itself:
- The worship was great! 3 guitars really fill out the sound, and the addition of a keyboardist is great. Dave introduced "Our God" by Chris Tomlin today, and it rocked!
- The message was TOO LONG! 52 minutes!!!
- I received a comment on a Connection Card that the messages could be cut down by 20 minutes and nobody would miss anything. Today, I'll agree with you! My goal is 40 minutes.
- Right before I was to teach I met Tremper Longman who was visiting a relative who attends Calvary, and that made me nervous to teach! After the service he told me it was a good sermon and I thanked him for lying.
- God hooked us up with the weather! Thunderstorms held at bay until the party was over.
- The food was incredible! Tuner and team really outdid themselves...smoked brisket, ribs, chicken, pulled pork, burgers, dogs...and the sides and desserts everyone contributed was phenomenal.
- The volunteers were simply awesome! So many people worked so hard today (and in advance) with great attitudes and servants hearts to make everything come together.
- Custodians rule! We couldn't have done it without Eddie today!
- We launched Grapple today; a new Calvary Kids' environment for children age 10-12. The early feedback is very positive.
- LOTS of kids today! Maybe this is why kid's check-in got so backed up.
- LOTS of people today! 243 total.
- A bounce house is the perfect baby sitter.
- I was very moved by several people who shared how God has used Calvary to impact their lives.
- The worship at Calvary is great and the teaching is...the best I can do. But what really makes Calvary an amazing church is the people. We have such a great group of people and it is a privilege to get to serve as their pastor. I love our church!
